FLU VACCINES AT FAIRMOUNT PEDIATRICS

Flu Vaccine Is Still Available

What you need to know:
1. Babies under 6 months old do not get the flu vaccine. If your child is under 6 months old, they can receive the flu vaccine at their regular 6 month well visit when the time comes.

2. Dr. Lieberman DOES recommend the flu vaccine. She gets it herself, and so does her daughter! Why be sick for 2 weeks, and run the risk of getting pneumonia or dehydrated or any of the other complications of the flu?! The flu vaccine has a long track record and is safe and effective!

3. Is there thimerosol in the vaccine used at FPAM?
NO! All the flu vaccines are single dose vaccines, and have no thimerosol.

4. When can we get the flu vaccine?
We are giving the flu vaccine
*At regularly scheduled well-visits through the winter

5. Which vaccine does my child need?
If your child is under 2 years old, they get the BABY FLU SHOT.
If your child is 2 and over, but does NOT have asthma, they can get the NASAL FLUMIST.
If your child has asthma, they get the BABY FLU SHOT if they are 2 - 3 years old, and, if at or over 36 months old, they get the BIG KID FLU SHOT.

6. How many flu vaccines does my child need?
If your child is under 9, and this is their first flu shot ever, they will need two this year, separated by one month.
